Band and Orchestra Uniforms are worn during performances by students
in Marching, Symphonic and Concert Bands, Jazz Ensembles, and by
members of the Symphonic Orchestra. The majority of the uniform
is provided by RBOPO. A fee is collected from each student to cover
the cost of cleaning and maintaining the uniform in performance
condition. Uniforms are fitted by a qualified seamstress and the
sleeves, trouser legs, and /or skirt length are altered to fit the
student. The items not provided by RBOPO are available in most area
stores. Marching Uniforms stay at school all year, while Concert
Uniforms are issued to each student and are kept at home until performances.
The
fitting dates are shown on the Marching Band Calendar. Marching
shoes should be purchased from RBOPO.

Below
are instructions for the care of concert garments.
Tuxedo
Care
Tuxedos, cummerbunds, and bow ties must be DRY-CLEANED ONLY. Do
not attempt to wash any of these items -- they will be ruined. White
tuxedo shirts may be washed with warm water and machine dried. If
the shirt is hung up immediately, it will not need to be pressed.
After each wearing, the tux and shirt should be hung up immediately
to allow time to air out before the next performance, and to lengthen
the time necessary between dry cleanings.
Dress
Care
Dresses may be machine washed in warm water and machine dried. If
hung up immediately out of the dryer, they will not have to be pressed.
Since these dresses are made out of "Robinson wonder fabric"
wrinkles will disappear within 24 hours after hanging. We DISCOURAGE
PRESSING of these dresses. The fabric also seems to retain body
odor. Using 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1/4 cup of your normal amount
of soap will help solve this problem.
Marching
Band Uniform Maintenance Volunteers Needed!
From time to
time, during the marching season, we have conditions (mud, rain)
which require quick action to get all the uniforms presentable for
the next event. We are looking for on-call volunteers who would
be able to come in, on short notice, to help brush down the uniforms.
If you are available to assist with emergency cleaning, please email
bandwebmaster(at)robinsonband.org, or sign up at the Parent Meeting
in August.
