In competition with schools from throughout the Commonwealth, the orchestra, chorus and band departments
earned 7 superior ratings, 3 excellent ratings, 7 first place trophies, 2 second place trophies,
an Outstanding Cello Section award, and Orchestra and Band Grand Champion trophies.

Congratulations to the following Robinson High School Band and Orchestra students who have been selected through audition to perform in the 2011 All-Virginia Band and Orchestra event to be held on April 7-9 in Charlottesville. These students had to first be selected to either their Regional Orchestra or District Band, and then were selected from a competitive audition pool of over 1200 students this past weekend at James Madison University. Bravo!

CONGRATULATIONS to the following Robinson HS Band students on being accepted as a performer or alternate in the District XI 2011 All-District Band. These students were accepted through a competitive audition process from a group of more than 700 students auditioning. Students selected into the Symphonic and Concert Bands will take part in the All-District Band event to be held at WT Woodson High School on February 3-5. Guest Conductors will be Dr. Tom Fraschillo from The University of Southern Mississippi and Prof. Travis Cross from Virginia Tech. It take a lot of work, preparation, and learning to be accepted into one of these ensembles. (Students marked with an asterisk* have earned an opportunity to audition for the All-Virginia Band and Orchestra Festival later this Spring). Congratulations to Nathaniel Banks, Junior band member, for being selected as the lead alto saxophone for the All-Virginia Jazz Ensemble.
Nate will perform with the band at the Virginia Music Educators Association Conference in Norfolk, Virginia on Saturday November 20th.
The Robinson Band is very proud of Nate for being one of only two alto saxophone players to be selected to the ensemble in the state of Virginia.
